Text Neck

TEXT NECK

Text neck is a condition that occurs due to overuse of MOBILE DEVICES, especially when constantly looking down at the screen. The repetitive strain on the neck and upper back muscles, along with the sustained forward head posture, are the main causes of TEXT NECK.

When we spend prolonged periods with our heads tilted downward, it puts excessive stress on the spine, leading to muscle imbalances and potential long-term issues. The muscles in the front of the neck and upper chest become tight and shortened, while the muscles in the back of the neck and upper back become weak and lengthened.

As for symptoms, people with text neck may experience:

- Neck pain or stiffness: the most common symptom is discomfort or pain in the neck area.

- Upper back pain: pain or tension can also extend to the upper back region.

- Shoulder pain: the strained posture can contribute to shoulder discomfort.

- Headaches: tension headaches may occur, often originating from the neck and radiating into the head.

- Reduced range of motion: difficulty in moving the neck freely, leading to stiffness.

- Tingling or numbness: prolonged pressure on nerves can cause tingling or numbness in the arms or hands.

It is important to address TEXT NECK symptoms early on and make necessary changes to prevent further issues.
